After distribution of photos of the facility, a number of questions arose concerning the safety and maintenance of the school. While we don’t have data about the maintenance plan for school facilities over the past 50 years, regular inspections and preventative maintenance have become like clockwork. We budget for these activities separate from other maintenance needs. This amount for FY17 is $5,641 and includes generator maintenance, fire alarm monitoring, a quarterly extermination fee, annual inspection of fire extinguishers, boiler water treatment, boiler maintenance, and other inspections and services. Custodial supplies are budgeted at $10,000 per year while over $18,000 is budgeted for repairs and facility projects.
Johnson Roberts Associates, Inc. was retained by Leicester Public Schools in April 2014 and was tasked with the preparation of a School Facility Master Plan to address the mid-term facility needs of Leicester Public Schools. This Facilities Master Plan addresses the scope, cost and feasibility of various repair, rehabilitation, expansion, and new construction options.
In addition to the review of existing documents, drawings, and previously prepared reports, the Johnson Roberts Associates team visually reviewed and evaluated each school facility with critical attention paid to: compliance with current applicable life safety and accessibility codes; the determination of the potential life expectancy of existing materials and finishes; and a schedule for the proposed rehabilitation and/or expansion of the following LPS owned facilities.
